Some research made for a competition still shot. The goal was to create a convincing contrail for a rocket, used as a background element in a scene. We wanted the trail to be detailed enough for a big format. This is a series of R&D shots that came out of this research... Final render coming soon...
Halloween is approaching, and I got a commission to model a couple of scary skeletons. So, I just had to make a simple lighting setup and create a nice rendering. Also added some particles for the dust. Rendered with Arnold, modeled in ZBrush. In addition, here are a couple of wireframe images...
A play on quantum levitation. Two drops of colored oil inside a drop of water. Using two different force field setups, oil is forced to mix with the water.
A small experiment with fill object emitters, trying to create fluids close together without gaps in between. Some things learned: fluids contract and take up smaller volume than the object they fill in Realflow, and that produces the gaps; this can be fixed in the meshing phase, where you can almost perfectly achieve no gaps are made. The way to achieve the effect is using particles from other fluids as a subtractive field. That way, you get the holes that the smaller fluids(oil in this case) fit almost without a gap...

Initially, I was meant to create one model, but after looking ate some reference images, I have decided to make a whole series, five models, all based on typical costumes the little girl has in the series. Modeled and textured in ZBrush. Rendered in Keyshot. The models are up for sale in my store on Shapeways. Coming soon to Rinkak as well...
